This must have been the 50th birthday party of all parties and I was asked to style it.
The food would take centre stage, a sharing feast delivered to 130 guests. I used wooden planks down the centre of the tables to elevate the food - for ease of diving in, but also to really make a feature of the platters full of delights - The trellis was dressed with a combination of foliage and lengths of Passion Flower delicately woven through. A mixture of low level, gold beaded, brown glass and black metal candle holders and vases were used to stage a pop of bright from the enormous Dahlias. Sage green napkins were used to break up the white linen, with copper cutlery placed atop to pull together all of the textures.
Handmade place names, table numbers and seating plans created a relaxed, informal feel and suggested a very personal, thought out event.
